Paraguay recently became the third country in Latin America, following Brazil and Mexico, to allow the import of medical marijuana into the country to treat citizens with certain debilitating medical indications.
Paraguay’s Office of Health Monitoring and the Nation’s Ministry of Public Health came forward to announce the approval of cannabis oil extracts – specifically Medical Marijuana Inc’s Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™) – as of April 15, 2016. The first (RSHO™) import approved was to treat a child with a severe form of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome based on a request from the child’s physician. This historic decision is expected to have a significant impact on the future of marijuana imports in Paraguay, as evidenced in various other countries that have approved medical marijuana prior, and is expected to change the lives of many patients in the country who suffer from debilitating seizures and related conditions.
Paraguay’s Decision to Legalize Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil
Francisco Ayala, the spokesman of a national anti-drug organization in Parguay, was interviewed by the Associated Press about the country’s landmark decision. Ayala explained that although use of such drugs is not prohibited in the nation, the production and trafficking of drugs is a matter of criminal conduct. Ayala added that patients with conditions such as epilepsy are eligible for separate consideration under the anti-drug law that passed in 1988, and therefore, this new ruling will allow for the legal importation of RSHO’s™ life-changing medical marijuana and hemp products.
Ayala further clarified that the law states that it is legal for any citizen of Paraguay to possess up to two grams of cocaine and 10 grams of marijuana for personal use. Until now, restrictions with regard to the medical indications of marijuana have been unclear.
Change in Paraguay Medical Marijuana Legislation Inspired by 15-year-old Boy with Epilepsy
According to the Paraguay Health Ministry, the patient who inspired the change in legislation is a 15-year-old boy whose doctor had already requested the importation of RSHO’s™ products twice. The boy was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare type of epilepsy that doesn’t respond well to seizure medications. This boy, like many others who have adopted scientifically formulated hemp oil into their treatment plans, is expected to see his condition improve.
Clinical Benefits of RSHO Products
RSHO™ products are medically formulated to provide calculated clinical benefits. In addition to epilepsy, RSHO’s™ oils have been used to successfully treat Parkinson’s Disease and other chronic conditions. From motor disturbances to chronic pain, hemp oil is known for its ability to reduce the frequency and severity of troublesome symptoms.
Unlike other medical marijuana products, RSHO’s™ products are formulated without THC, which is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. Because the RSHO™ products do not contain THC, they allow the patient to function normally throughout the day and are ideal for the treatment of adolescents.
Fighting for Legalization of Hemp throughout the World
The use of cannabis and its derivatives as a medical treatment is regulated by countries around the world. RSHO™ and CBD oil advocates are continuing the struggle to have hemp oil products approved for medicinal use in all countries. These marijuana-based products are capable of changing lives by alleviating symptoms of debilitating conditions and allowing the sufferers to regain their quality of life. As Paraguay and other nations take further steps to ensure access to these vital products, more patients can experience relief.
Recent Media Coverage of Historic Paraguay Decision
From the Associated Press to Telefuturo, the nation of Paraguay’s largest television show, RSHO™ products have been generating a significant amount of press in Paraguay and around the world. With increased media attention, it is hopeful that word of the revolutionary CBD and hemp products offered by Medical Marijuana, Inc. will reach more patients and physicians seeking healthier alternatives to traditional pharmaceuticals. As more patients succeed at winning the right to import cannabis oil for treatment, the road to relief becomes easier for others.
