San Diego City Beat 5-Minute Film Festival Screens “Sadie Higuera: A Little Girl With a Second Chance”, Local Child is “The New Face of Cannabis”
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — At eight months-old, her body was riddled with chronic seizures and tumors. Feeling helpless and in desperate search for any solution, little Sadie Higuera’s parents heard the terminal diagnosis: Schnizel-Giedion syndrome. Sadie was not expected to live beyond the first year of life.

Enduring multiple operations and medications that created swelling in her body like a balloon, the simplest task such as breathing was labored and Sadie could be heard struggling to live throughout the Higuera’s home. Medical treatment options given to Sadie were clearly not working. Finally, Sadie’s parents were given one last treatment option – the “hero pill” – that would end her life in two months.
“That,” Brian Higuera, Sadie’s Father, explains, “…was not an option.”
Heartbroken but determined, Brian began searching for alternatives to help his daughter’s quality of life and came across an unlikely but readily available solution: cannabis.
Told by award-winning photo journalist, Christian Rodas of CMW Media, the documentary titled Sadie Higuera: A Little Girl with a Second Chance condenses the true life epic battle of survival into an emotionally charged five minute format. The documentary short was featured at the San Diego City Beat 5-Minute Film Festival on Thursday, September 3, 2015. In it, two of the world’s most trusted brands of non-psychoactive hemp cannabidiol (CBD) oil from San Diego’s Medical Marijuana, Inc. (OTC Pink:MJNA) are featured.
“We’re very honored to see Sadie Higuera’s story featured by San Diego’s CityBeat 5-Minute Film Festival,” says CMW Media CEO Andrew Hard. “Sadie’s experience with non-psychoactive CBD hemp cannabis oil and her strength and courage as she and her family have battled and endured such hardship, make life a compelling story to tell.”
Hard explains, “In addition to learning about Sadie’s life, what the public may not already know is that San Diego is a well-established global cannabis hub of commerce. Here, there are industry leading companies whose products are changing hearts, minds and cannabis laws domestically as well as internationally.”
“Sadie Higuera is one tiny but mighty example of the power of cannabis and the impact that it can have on one’s life,” Hard continues. “People of all ages – from seniors to toddlers like Sadie – are turning to cannabis. We are extremely proud to emphasize this point from our own backyard; Sadie has a new lease on life thanks to innovations in cannabis oil that are now available online in all 50 states and more than 40 countries without a U.S. medical recommendation.”
