Licenses Provide Company and its Affiliates Entrance to the Las Vegas Market for Cannabis and Related Products
Denver, CO / ACCESSWIRE / November 11, 2014 / United Cannabis Corp. (OTCBB: CNAB) (the “Company” or “United Cannabis”) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, UC Nevada LLC, is the managing partner and minority shareholder in a group that has received provisional licenses for the cultivation, production and processing of cannabis in Clark County, Las Vegas, Nevada.
UC Nevada intends to commence operations as soon as possible. In keeping with the Company’s mission to advance the safe and effective use of cannabis-derived medicine, management will implement its best practices in planning, procedures, governance and patient care in all aspects of the Nevada operation. UC Nevada LLC has already procured and received zoning approval on a 22- acre, secure facility which will serve as headquarters for the Nevada operation, and has begun the process of obtaining the necessary local business licenses.
Once UC Nevada has established the proper infrastructure, cultivation and production facilities, the Company and its affiliates will be able to offer their products and services to licensed dispensaries in the Las Vegas market. These include United Cannabis’ Advanced Cannabinoid Therapy Program, or A.C.T. Now, and their patent-pending Prana Bio Nutrient Medicinals, which are already being offered in Colorado.
Tony Verzura, the Company’s Chief Technical Officer, commented on the announcement, “I am so pleased that Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services saw fit to make our A.C.T. Now Program and Prana Medicinals accessible to patients in Las Vegas. I am contacted everyday by patients hoping to incorporate our protocols in their therapy, but cannot because they live outside of Colorado. These licenses enable us to offer broader access to medical cannabis for patients battling illness.”
According to the Marijuana Policy Project, Nevada’s medical marijuana legislation contains reciprocity provisions, which recognize patients from other states where medical marijuana is permitted, as long as those states’ programs are substantially similar to the requirements under Nevada law. With an estimated 39.7 million visitors last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Association, Las Vegas is already one of the most visited destinations in the world. Many people believe Nevada’s reciprocity stipulation will add to Las Vegas’ popularity, making its decriminalization one of the most anticipated in the country.
United Cannabis’ Chief Operating Officer, Chadwick Ruby, went on to say, “Nevada legislation is leading the way for patients who rely on medical cannabis as part of their therapy, but who are essentially prohibited from traveling beyond the borders of their state. These licenses represent a significant opportunity for United Cannabis, not only enabling us to provide access to our products to Nevada residents, but also to patients traveling from across the country, and we welcome the opportunity to serve them.”
