PositiveID’s Firefly Device Might Be Health Affairs’ Best Bio-Threat Detection Solution

The U.S. Department of Health Services Office of Health Affairs recently announced their intention plan to monitor the reported outbreaks of various infectious diseases worldwide and PositiveID’s Firelfy Dx system seems an obvious solution to the world’s bio-threat detection needs.

The Office of Health Affairs wants to contract a small business to provide a “real-time data feed” that will be delivered in email or RSS format. The data feed would consist of no less than 25,000 online sources, would be available on a constant basis and would be updated every hour at the most.

Bio-Threat Detection Takes Priority
Tensions are mounting across the globe as the world watches and tries to sort out the tragic details. Terror reigns in Syria where chemical weapons have already taken lives. TRTC Benefits from DOJ Moves

Terra Tech Corp.

Medical marijuana has for long been a subject matter of intense debate and there have been arguments and counter arguments whether cannabis has any medical benefits or not. The two developments plus a CNBC story in which it was featured as one of the medical marijuana companies and excellent quarterly earnings brought a small but upcoming company Terra Tech Corp. (OTCBB: TRTC) in focus. The stock gained more than 100% in one month.

Derek Peterson, CEO of Terra Tech, says, “Hydroponics allows us to grow vertically in urban settings where we cut down our carbon footprint, reduce the risk of contaminating produce and deliver a fresher longer lasting product to our retail partners.” Peterson explains that each year the world has less and less land that is suitable for farming. He sees a population that relies on “sub par produce.” The Bloom Room could allow urban environments and otherwise un-farmable areas a realistic alternative to the traditional soil and sun garden.

Medical Marijuana Dispensary Ban Thrown Out in California Supreme Court

Los Angeles, CA — The California Supreme Court dismissed review yesterday of an important appellate court ruling affecting medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state.

Specifically, the High Court threw out the controversial decision in Pack v. City of Long Beach, which previously held that federal law preempted some forms of dispensary regulations. The Pack decision has been used by several municipalities, including Los Angeles and Long Beach, to suspend or ban outright the distribution of medical marijuana. However, yesterday’s dismissal of the Pack decision throws into question the viability of such bans.
